Cross Country Trip Part 1 – Maine to Minnesota
Welcome to “Real Life After 70”
A podcast related to surviving and thriving at any age.
This is Real Life After 70 – Episode 15
My name is Mike Reynolds. I’m your host for this and each episode.
Living the Dream: We’re on the move!
Our winter travels begin now. Join me as we commence our journey across the northern
section of the good old USA. This first segment starts at our home base in Maine and after ten days we made it to Grand Rapids, MN. Almost 2,000 miles so far.
As we go about our lives, we are facing many challenges. We are challenged to wake
up and interact with others. It is up to us to create the life that works for us. Sometimes what we think is going to be a simple task becomes an extremely frustrating experience. I have been distracted by several projects that are important but take me away from creating regular podcast episodes. I hope to be much more consistent as we go forward.
Today I share with you some of my experience with living a somewhat nomadic life.
It’s mostly fun and rewarding, but sometimes it can be challenging. Right now, we’re organizing for our departure from our home base in Maine. After 10 days on the road, we actually
traveled on 7 of those days and covered almost 2,000 miles. We have stayed at Harvest Host locations for 6 of those overnight stops.
We will inevitably face some challenges along this journey of self-fulfillment.
Today we’ll discuss some of those challenges and how to surmount such
obstacles.
Dashed Expectations harm ourselves and our relationships. We can overcome this by relinquishing control over anything outside of ourselves.
Criticism and judgement from friends and family is a fear that many of us share. We can overcome this and it gets easier and easier as we go forward.
Learning something new is a constant struggle. Whether it’s technology or terminology, we can learn what we need to. Asking for help opens up new avenues.
